I’ve been playing druids since launch. My druid hasn’t always been my raiding main, but I raided in vanilla as a resto druid, and in TBC as feral. I’m currently raiding as resto again (completely loving it, by the way!) and my off-spec was feral, with cat talents.
Cat always seemed the easiest choice for me. Part of it is my old mindset from leveling during vanilla, that balance just meant sitting and drinking all the time. Obviously that’s no longer the case, but cat was so familiar, I chose it pretty much automatically.
Just goofing, I decided to give Balance a go as my off-spec. Now, the last time I had a Balance spec, I was level 40 and the 31-point talent was Hurricane. We’re talking way, WAY back, before Moonkin form existed.
So I did a little research yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised to see that the stat priorities for Resto and Balance are essentially the same. In my mediocre gear (about ilvl 350) I didn’t need to change a thing! I was pretty much exactly at the hit cap, and my other stats were all in order. It’s going to be so much easier to keep a second set of gear up to par.
Waiting is the hardest part! I made a dwarf warlock to play around. #Warcraft #cataclysm
My little Worgen druid is finally level 80, and I can leave Northrend behind and head to Vashj’ir. Levels 1 through 60 were fantastic, with new content and great quests. Outland was really quick — I was 68 before I knew it. But Northrend felt really slow. I don’t think they’ve tuned the experience gains yet, like they did for Outland when WotLK was released.
I also think it’s really funny that my poor little Worgen has been male for 60 levels now. She was a female when I created her, back during the alpha, and one of the patches turned all female Worgen into men. Someday, I dream of turning her back into a woman! Maybe before she hits 85!
Back on track levelling in the beta! Went from 71 to 73 this afternoon. I really hate Borean and Howling Fjord. #warcraft #cataclysm
Absolutely love the new Tier 11 druid set design! Gorgeous! #warcraft #cataclysm
I’m a terrible beta tester. A few things contribute to this:
I just finished up Eastern Plaguelands on my Worgen Druid. It’s one of my favorite zones so far, which surprised me, since I never enjoyed the old Eastern Plaguelands.
EPL still has a lot of the same old flavor. Geographically, almost nothing has changed. The same kind of mobs populate the zone. But they’ve added a great little quest that carries you through the entire zone — a worgen woman named Fiona and her two paladin friends. They’ve got a little caravan, and once you help them out a little, they allow you to tag along on their journey.
The caravan brings you to each of the four former World PVP towers. Each tower is now a mini-quest hub. Once you finish up the quests (some brand new, some classic), you move on with your merry little band. At each hub, you recruit a new adventurer to join the caravan, and eventually you all need to team up to take down a powerful foe.
The zone felt very cohesive, and the caravan of adventurers added a really nice story to the zone.
You wrap up the Goblin quests by helping Thrall defeat Trade Prince Gallywix. Oh, and you get to pilot a football uniform mecha.
That’s it for the Golbin area!
